Health from foods:
It is talked about more now, that food is our “health department” and the foods we eat can help us or harm us.
Nothing new here.
We used to eat more from our family gardens and community gardens, but the times have changed. The children of today have so much at their disposal for eating good food think of the name brand stores that provide organic foods and farmers markets that are around us. We can learn from youngsters and new ideas, but not the old fashioned wisdom we can carry about life, slow learning and the importance of waiting.
Ask a 90 year old and they might share the memory of homegrown foods from the Victory gardens. Or going to grandmas for a visit and eating vegetables she grew in her garden. We are missing out, and convenience is hurting us, even killing us.
What can you do? It depends on your housing area, if you live alone, or if you have extra money to put into a garden.
I can tell you something, we don’t all have extra cash, but we have creativity, wisdom and age to help us. Don’t let the lack of cash hold you back.
Senior citizen gardens exist, or you might suggest one. Community gardens are a great idea for children and older people too. We need to start thinking about our health, and not depending on a doctor or a medicine to help us get our health back.
I hope you can do that, in your community. Ask yourself, are you going to help get us back on track, by teaching the youngsters? Or will you watch TV and sit all day.
I am definitely not condemning anyone, I have had decades of health issues, so TV watching was my way to recovery. But I started walking around the house, going outside more and eventually eating healthier was added to my list.
I can help you see we are part of the solution. Prayer is a great way to be lifted up. Jude 20.
Pray and keep your hope alive. Not just for this life, but for the next.
Ps 23. No matter the valley, God never leaves us.
